Does Ceaser own Black Ink Chicago

Black Ink Tattoo and 9Mag each rose to reality TV fame underneath Ceaser Emanuel’s ever-expanding Black Ink Crew brand. And Ceaser, who simply opened up his newest Black Ink tattoo parlor in New Orleans, now has a community of five shops nationwide, with a sixth on the means later this yr. But does Ceaser own Black Ink Chicago? And what’s the relationship between Ceaser and 9Mag’s Ryan Henry? The confusion, it seems, stems from the fact that both males have high-profile retail outlets beneath the same model, even supposing the brand has most effective to do with the TV facet of things.

Does Ceaser own Black Ink Chicago? Or does Ryan Henry?

Black Ink Crew the TV display got here prior to its Chicago variant, this means that Ceaser Emanuel got a head get started in the multi-millionaire game. (Though, to be truthful to Ryan, it’s no longer transparent that he needs the similar thing.) As of this writing, Ceaser owns tattoo parlors in New Orleans, Atlanta, Orlando, and New York City — the place he has two. (Black Ink Philadelphia is scheduled to open in past due 2018.)

But it's important to needless to say there’s a big difference between the chain of tattoo stores referred to as Black Ink and the fact TV franchise known as Black Ink Crew. It’s this distinction that appears to be complicated audience.

Ceaser opened Joaquin’s Ink, his first shop, in 2011. Ceaser’s brother Joaquin died in a Brooklyn tattoo parlor, and Ceaser — who was already an artist, tattoo artist, and graphic fashion designer — made up our minds to take a chance and open his own store, naming it after Joaquin. Ceaser’s success (and a prior relationship with VH1) led to a rebranding and the Black Ink Crew pilot, which was well-reviewed. The network ordered a complete season, and the show debuted on January 7, 2013.

At the similar time and 800 miles to the west, 9Mag opened in Chicago’s Pilsen neighborhood. The a hit new store stuck the eye of VH1 pros, who had been already looking for a 2d tattoo parlor in a different city for a potential Black Ink Crew by-product. Filming in 9Mag began in 2014, and Black Ink Crew Chicago debuted in late 2015, one week after the authentic Black Ink Crew wrapped up its third season.

So whilst Ceaser got the ball rolling on the Black Ink Crew TV franchise, he had nothing to do with Ryan Henry’s store in Chicago. And while Ceaser has an executive manufacturer credit score on the unique Black Ink Crew TV display, he doesn’t have one for Black Ink Crew Chicago. The two are attached only by brand and TV cameras.

Black Ink Crew Chicago winked at this issue as soon as before

The matter of possession (and territories) got here up all through a short lived, comical alternate in Black Ink Crew Chicago Season 3. While operating at the Philadelphia Tattoo Convention, Ryan spotted that “Chicago” seemed in a listing of Black Ink-affiliated cities on a banner in Ceaser’s sales space. So Ryan, half swaggering and part joking, made up our minds to name Ceaser out.

“Hey Cease! I got a f*ckin bone to select with you. You own that, that, and that,” Ryan says, pointing at the first three towns on the record: New York, Atlanta, and Chicago. Ceaser, picking up what Ryan is laying down, says “I own one-two-three,” and that Chicago is on his banner “by means of association.”

When Ceaser asks about a purchase worth, Ryan says that 9Mag “motherf*ckin ain’t on the market, god damn it.”

“Everything’s on the market,” Ceaser shoots back.

Again, each Ceaser and Ryan are smiling and guffawing all through the change, which seems to be (mostly) lighthearted. But it’s also transparent that Ryan doesn’t need someone horning in on his territory. In a confessional, Ryan in particular says that it’s not simply 9Mag: the entire city of Chicago is closed to Ceaser and his brand-building ways.

“I know Cease seeking to construct an empire, you recognize,” he acknowledges. “But Chicago…you know, that’s me, man. That sh!t is off-limits.”

Which isn’t to mention that we gained’t see Ceaser take a look at any other, extra serious takeover in the long run — especially now that Black Ink Crew Season 7 is airing. You can catch new episodes Wednesday nights at 9 on VH1.
